Let me introduce myself:
I’m Graziella and together with my husband Mauro and our two children and my parents, we’ve created Ca’Bianca Agritourism.

Now, if you read on, I’ll bore you with some chat…just let me get on with it because I really want to and am proud of what we’ve all made together.

Agriturismo Cà Bianca
Agriturismo Cà Bianca

Our farm is situated in the area of Ostia Parmense at about 400 m above sea level and only 5 km from Valtaro’s main town, Borgotaro. We are on the left of the River Taro where it meets with the Cogena Torrent, one of the best areas for gathering porcini mushrooms and recognised at European level (registered mushroom zone IGP i.e. protected geographical area).

The farm consists of various plots of different types of land with different characteristics. We grow fodder and cereals on our cultivated land, which we then use to feed our saddle horses as well as a variety of farmyard animals. The wheat and maize crops are used to make bread and polenta. We also have many friends who raise all kinds of produce: when our own runs out, we use theirs as our larder.

There is also a large orchard with apples, pears, peaches, plums, apricots, cherries, almonds, hazelnuts, figs and persimmons. Chestnuts of excellent quality can be gathered in the many woods belonging to the farm.

Our Agritourism farm has seven completely independent rooms available, each with its own bathroom. One room has facilities for the disabled and there is TV in every room. An equipped games room is available as well as a billiard room, another with satellite TV and a well-stocked library. You won’t be needing any of these though because exploring the Valtaro countryside won’t leave you time. You can go horse riding or walking in the magnificent woods, take trips on mountain-bikes or go canoeing or fishing in the rivers or the many lakes in the area.

For mountain “professionals” or open-air sports people, there are a vast number of signposted CAI ramblers’ tracks that are linked to the “Great Apennine Hikes”. You can also follow the tracks of the Parma Apennines’ Equestrian Way and the Francigena Way, obviously accompanied by Mauro (official ANTE guide for the National Association of Equestrian Tourism).

Last but not least, the food. Everything is based on typical local products, many of which are grown and gathered on the farm itself. We have studied in depth the history and methods for preparing the many unique dishes of excellent quality that this rich land has to offer.

Reliable historical news attest that this rural home was an ancient customs house. Although it was not located on the border of the state, its position was an in-between junction near the Passo della Colla which people and goods passed through to elude the two main centres of the Landi State: Compiano and Bardi. Its function as customs ended in 1684 when the Landi State was annexed by the Farnese family.

In a quiet, untouched place surrounded by an undoubtedly evocative green landscape at an altitude of 850 metres, Alvaro and Barbara have given new life to this entirely stone-made rural home. Here guests can have relax, feel free, find tranquillity and enjoy a swimming pool with solarium in a unique position facing a wonderful valley. Moreover, the garden is a place for “meditation” and “inspiration”.

Thanks to its strategic geographic position, guests can easily and shortly reach the Castle of Compiano, the Fortress of Bardi, the Cinque Terre, Chiavari and Sestri Levante – respectively through the Passo del Bocco and the Passo di Cento Croci which offer noteworthy experience especially for motorcyclists.

It takes only few minutes by car or by foot to reach the Monte Pelpi (1550 m sea-level) which offer a breathtaking 360° sightseeing and it is full of a wide range of trees and flowers. All these aspects contribute making this place unique for unforgettable “naturalistic” emotions.

Our two apartments (each for 2-4 persons) are located in a converted and lovingly restored former stable block. During the restoration work, the stone walls and parts of the ceiling beams of the building have been preserved, giving these areas their rustic charm.

The furniture of the rooms are typical farmhouse style. Both apartments have central gas heating and in addition there is a fireplace in the apartment below. Each apartment has about 50 square meters of living space. The apartment “La Stalla” in the basement consists of living room with sofa bed, bedroom, bathroom and small kitchen, equipped with double sink, 4-hob gas cooker with oven, refrigerator and everything you need to prepare your meals.

Furthermore the apartment has a terrace with garden furniture. The upper apartment “Il Fienile” is divided into living room with two single sofas (which can be turned into two single beds ), bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette with sink, 3-ring stove, fridge and all necessary cooking utensils. The apartment “Il Fienile” has also a terrace with garden furniture. On request breakfast is served in our house or during the summer months on our terrace.

We offer a delicious buffet breakfast with local products.

The horses on our farm belong to the Bardigiano race, a race which is indigenous to our area.

They are roughly 1.40 m high and move sure-footed and agile in our area which is not always easy. Characteristic of the horses is their gentle and balanced disposition mind. Thus, they are very suitable for beginners, but also offer the experienced rider a very satisfying riding experience. On our farm you can learn riding even if you don`t have any riding experience .

Any existing fears, you lose quite quickly. In riding lessons suitable for children and adults, you learn the basic commands to ride a horse independently. Included are of course, maintaining and cleaning preparations, grooming, and saddling horses. If you feel confident enough on the horse, we are taking the first short rides with you. The half-day or full-day rides take us through neighbouring villages, along rivers and up into the mountains. Again and again you can enjoy spectacular views. And you will agree with me that there is no better way to explore our beautiful region than on the back of a good and balanced horse.

On full-day rides we will look for a nice place to have a picnic to give a breather to us and our horses.

Angelo and Simona are pleased to welcome you in their farm.

After we moved here from Milan, we decided to turn into reality everything we have always believed in: the biological agriculture for a healthy eating, the protection of nature and biodiversity, a slower life style (even though as hard as any other ones) which makes us fully enjoy breathtaking landscapes and wild animals coming out from the pinewood.

The enchantment of being awaken from the chirp of titmice, of cultivating and seeing the fruit which grows, the emotion of watching the sky with so many stars that it seems that are about to fall down.

All this, and more over is what we want to share with you.

We are waiting for you!

In our B&B your four-footed friends are welcome
